BookBox and Orient Longman become ‘Storytellers’
| Puducherry based BookBox, recently launched its new product ‘Storytellers’ at the hands of actor Aamir Khan on March 1, 2008 in Mumbai. He not only played storyteller in an auditorium packed with about 400 kids, but also floated ideas about what should be done for the deprived children. |

The books are targeted at children between the age group of 5-8 years and more. ‘Storytellers’ is a series of delightful stories published by Orient Longman in collaboration with BookBox.
Each set of the five books in Storytellers’ come with an interactive and animated CD cum VCD. This combination of stories uses Same Language Subtitling (SLS), a concept that helps children relate to phonetic sounds with visual subtitles while accelerating the development of their reading skills.

BookBox’s COO Nirav Shah shared, “Every child should experience the joys of reading and become a fluent reader by the age of 14. To achieve this, we believe that it is necessary for the reading experience to start early, be fun, inculcate a love for reading, complement formal school learning, and become an automatic and integral part of a child’s individual, community, and media environment. We believe that Storytellers can help us achieve our goals.”

BookBox’s AniBooks (Animated Books) were conceived at Stanford University by experts who drew upon research on reading and language learning. To start with, the company has made ‘Storytellers’ packs available in English but has plans to make it available in Hindi as well. Individual books will soon be released in seven languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

printable coloring book. The CD/VCD contains an animated version of the print books. The CD/VCD is also sold separately by our distributor Shemaroo,” informed Shah.

The first two series of Storytellers contain five stories each and they are titled as:

Speaking at the launch, B.M.M. Ali, Sr. Vice President, Orient Longman commented, “We have been a leading player in the field of education and we are quite excited with this initiative.
